Did you know that greyhounds don't sit like other dogs? So they don't SIT for their portrait???
Their bodies are used to running crazy fast, and they spend their racing careers in a crate laying down, standing up or running. Or how a previous client of mine said……. would YOU sit on such a bony buttocks? 😂Look closely next time you see a retired racer, they’re big muscles and bone.
Besides not sitting, the thing I found fascinating about them….
Is that their ears are usually back. In any other dog, if they pull their ears back, it’ll tell me that they’re certainly unhappy and something needs to change. In a greyhound, it’s their relaxed look. They’re just totally built streamline, even in their ears.
In the greyhound community, there are often posts of loving owners posting photographs of their doggos with the byline, “Where’s your earsies Quinn?”
That’s why the flower photo is so cool! If it was another doggo, I’d try get its ears up for its portrait, but this is who Quinn is.
These are a few of my favourites from their photoshoot
West Auckland and North Shore dog and family photography
Ah greyhounds are funny. Apparently they’re not big cuddle bugs because they’re such independent beings. I find it so remarkable how they adapt to pet and family life once they retire.
If you ask me, I think greyhounds are very much like cats. There’s a kind of royalty to them, and they know it.
