My dog & family photography business Yellow Lab is 7! so I’m sharing lessons I've learned

lessons I've learned photographing dogs

  • Training is always a good idea

  • Take time on your walks for random stops

  • You’re happiest when you surround yourself with friends

  • Genuine joy is contagious

  • A walk is better when shared

  • There’s always time for a power nap

  • Soak up the love a cuddly dog wants to give you

  • Tax. Not as fun to pay as the cheese tax but just as necessary

  • Playtime is essential. Schedule it

  • Be present in the moment

  • It’s important to be calm & patient

  • Dog hair is my glitter

  • It’s a good idea to be nicely groomed

  • You’ll never regret learning something new

  • Making Squeaky sounds to get a dogs attention only works for a short time

  • Saying their name in a really low voice will get them to look

  • Don’t get a fright when you bark at a dog and it barks back

  • High fives are awesome

  • It’s important to adapt and be flexible. Dogs don’t follow a script. the best moments happen spontaneously

  • The perfect shot comes from unexpected angles

  • A dogs wagging tail and excited greeting makes everything better

  • Working with dogs is a constant reminder of the beauty and happiness animals bring into our lives
