It’s lockdown number LOST TRACK, day 1 and feelings are a little weird. We’ve done this before, we know what to expect, but it kinda sucks.

Last year when Auckland NZ went into our first Covid lockdown, I created #ylphotochallenge as a happy space online where we can go for a good cheering up session and where we can escape from reality.

It is a photo challenge on my instagram page to keep us creative and in a positive headspace and to make friends online and build community. I hope you can join.

The challenge starts today

If you miss out and can't post today, post tomorrow. Play catch up or simply post day 2 or whichever we're on. The beauty of this, is that there are NO RULES! This one is for fun, if you skip a day, post two photos for one prompt, draw a picture, take it with your big camera that you never (hardly ever) use or use your phone.

Tag your friends so they can play if they’d like!
You really don't even need to be posting photos of your dog, it could be your cat, your goldfish, your kids or your houseplant. No one is going to tell us what to do with this challenge. It's to keep our creative brains going and keep a good headspace. It's to connect with other likeminded people who are in the same boat, build community and make friends. Friends we could even meet when we're allowed to leave the house again.

Please note:

This is not to add something to your to do list. This is not so you feel pressured to do one more thing while you’re managing life and work, this is a fun space, to gush over and share our dogs. If you don’t have a dog but want to join the challenge, go for! You don’t have to post photos of your dog, it can be anything you want. Follow the prompt as closely or take it as vaguely as you want. It’s a way a checking in with the world and saying, hey, I’m ok. I found so many fun accounts to follow & made so many friends the last time we did the challenge.

Tag me @yellowlabpetphoto on instagram to make sure I see it so I can share it to my stories and also use #ylphotochallenge so others can find your post.

SPCA 2022 Calendar competition

While you’re in the photo frame of mind, the SPCA calendar competition is on! Mark it in your diaries to enter by 30 August. Enter any landscape photo of your animal pal to stand a chance of being the real cover star you know he is.

Each entry cost $25 and although your pooch is not guaranteed a spot in the calendar, you will receive one when it is printed. Three categories: dog, cat and other.
So when you take a photo for the #ylphotochallenge & you think you’d like to enter it for the calendar competition, remember to keep/ take a landscape version for the SPCA calender.

The SPCA have some good tips and advice on how to take your best photo on the entry form page.

It won’t be lockdown without a bit of retail therapy

My friend Kirstie from Otiboaty Boutique is having the final restock of her limited Princess Bow Collection tonight at 7pm. This collection has sold out within hours every time. Use code 'YELLOWLAB' on any of the items on her shop to get 10% off.

We got the yellow Beauty and Beast bow, but there are so many other colors to choose from. There is a stunning light blue with yellow center bow that is speaking to me.
